Nourish Your Soul and Cleanse the Atmosphere with Agnihotra: Ancient Fire Ceremony

What is Agnihotra?

HOMA is a Sanskrit word used here synonymously with YAGNYA. YAGNYA is the technical term from the Vedic science of bioenergy denoting the process of removing the toxic conditions of the atmosphere through the use of fire. This means healing and purifying of the atmosphere with fire as the medium. The central idea in HOMA Therapy is that you heal the atmosphere and the healed atmosphere heals you.

By incorporating Agnihotra into their daily practices, thousands of people around the world have experienced improved health, more energy, and less stress. Guidance in this practice is available free of charge. See www.agnihotra.org or email for additional information.

Practicing agnihotra has changed my life. It has softened my heart to be more love moment to moment.  - Myra Lewin

Durga Farms

I purchased a farm property in 2011 now named Durga Farms. It has some mature orchard and lots of opportunity with 4.5 acres of land and only 1/4 of that in use. Initially there seemed to be many obstacles keeping me from buying this property. I realized that it was my thinking about what others might think about Homa Farming. Once I realized that, I forged ahead. I remembered that worry about what others think has never brought me peace and happiness, and that the practice of agnihotra has. Agnihotra has softened the hard places in my heart and cultivated peace in my mind through a deeper connection to nature and its cycles. The location is near the ocean and the beautiful mountains of Kalalea. This area is known for its spiritual influence and is said to have a specific area where souls enter the Earth.

Homa farming is the use of natural organic practices with the foundation of vedic fire ceremonies, including agnihotra, on the property. A resonance point is established to focus and raise the vibration of the designated area where the farming takes place. See www.agnihotra.org for additional information.

To establish the resonance point on my property, we needed bricks, or a suitable natural material out of which to make the towers that surround and protect the resonance point. Commonly used materials like clay and mud aren't available or appropriate for this environment. Bricks would work, but are not common on the island and very pricey to bring in. After searching and trying to figure out what to use, I let it go. Shortly after, the bricks appeared for sale on Craig's List! Since moving onto the property and establishing the resonance point, there are many more birds around; especially song birds. The existing orchard is recovering quickly from years of neglect, and those who have been here express deep feelings of calm and connection. The farm is currently being developed, one step at a time, and I look forward to the wonderful food that will be produced here in the near future.

Hymn to the Plants- Rig Veda X.97

Plants, which as receptacles of light were born three ages before the Gods, I honor your myriad colors and your seven hundred natures.

A hundred, oh Mothers, are your natures and a thousand are your growths. May you of a hundred powers make whole what has been hurt.

Plants, as Mothers, as Goddesses, I address you. May I gain the energy, the light, the sustenance, your soul, you are the human being.

Where the herbs are gathered together like kings in an assembly, there the doctor is called a sage, who destroys evil, and averts disease.

As they fell from Heaven, the plants said, "The living soul we pervade, that man will suffer no harm."

The herbs which are in the kingdom of the Moon, manifold with a hundred eyes, I take you as the best of them, for the fulfillment of wishes, as peace to the heart.

The plants, which are queens of the Soma, spread over all the Earth, generated by the Lord of Prayer, may your energy combine within this herb.
